Nikki Akkers

A bit about the professional me... I’m a highly motivated team player who reacts positively to challenges and thrives on improving the customer experience and getting the job done. A good communicator at all levels with strong influencing skills. I’m adaptable to different situations and highly resilient. I have strong project management skills, which are tested daily through the management of multiple tasks, a large team, key stakeholders and the ever changing nature of the online retail world. This is all underpinned by a drive and determination to succeed. Life outside of work... I like to keep busy… I have a keen interest in all things sporty and competitive with a particular passion for playing netball as well as an active part in the running of the club I play for as secretary. I also ensure I make time for travelling the world, spending money and having quality time with family and friends usually involving something to eat or drink. And if that wasn’t enough I am currently 3 years into a house renovation project.

Dr. Geraint Evans
Group Head of Commercial and Strategic Programmes
ODEON & UCI Cinemas

Hi - I'm Geraint - but everyone calls me G. I specialise in commercial marketing and digital transformation; omni channel, cross channel, multi channel, English Channel - whatever it’s called this week, I love working on it! After miserably failing to instantly become a rock star actor / professional rugby player post graduation, I started my career in a variety of hands-on sales and marketing roles around the world (not just Wales) for companies such as Virgin Media. Before beginning my current role as Group Head of Commercial and Strategic Programmes for the wonderful ODEON & UCI Cinemas, I worked with the likes of Tesco, Boots, Whitbread, Tate & Lyle, MandMDirect, Virgin Media and Aimia in a 15+ year period of interim management and consultancy roles. During this time I lead projects and programmes with budgets from £10 to £10s of millions. I have managed multiple cross location teams (onshore, offshore and near-shore) in a variety of high-pressure circumstances. I hold a PhD in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, I am a CIM Chartered Marketer, and I am qualified in all of the major project management disciplines (Agile, MSP, PRINCE 2, ITIL). I have proven experience of leading and implementing world-class consumer strategies, leveraging a wide range of platforms and channels. I can add significant value to any company thanks to my ability to proactively contribute to the creation of an overall vision, blueprint, strategy, creative direction, architecture, design, delivery and the analysis of data. Therefore, I feel what truly makes me different (apart from having a completely unpronounceable name) is my ability to draw on significant experience and external market awareness to truly bridge the gap between IT, the business, and their end customers – all the while maintaining a strong commercial focus that gets results.
